Legal Basis for using you information
We provide these services to you on behalf of your Local Authority employer and processing your personal information is necessary for the performance of your employment contract with them.
We also need to process more sensitive personal information about you on behalf of your employer in order to meet your employer’s legal obligations in relation to employment, social security and social protection law.
If the information is not provided to us we will not be able to provide the service.
Why do we need your personal information and what do we do with it?
Your personal information is provided by your employer, or you provide us with your information to enable you to:
- apply for courses and events organised by your employer
- apply for external courses
- update your CPD/Training record
- update your CPD/Training plan
- complete the GTC Scotland 5-yearly Professional Update process
We also use your information to provide professional updates to GTCS, verify your identity where required, contact you by email or telephone and to maintain our records.
We collect personal information about you:
- When your information is shared with us from your employer, e.g CPD administrator sets up staff records
- When you give it to us directly e.g profile update
- When you visit our website. This site does not automatically capture or store personal information, other than logging the user’s IP address and session information info such as the duration of the visit and type of browser used. This is recognised by the web server and is only used for administration and to provide statistics which we use to evaluate use of the site.

- First Name
- Last Name
- Date of Birth

We do not share, sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
For the purpose of professional update we will share your information with GTCS.
How long do we keep your information for?
